February is going to land in my top 3. There is a ton of good music bubbling up before SXSW and 2008 was spectacular. I had a hard time culling this list down to five. So many good songs left out.
Saw The Beautiful Girls open for O.A.R. in Chicago this past summer. The Shins originally hail my hometown, Albuquerque, NM. Ghostland Observatory, The Kooks, & The Raveonettes round out the Top 5.
