Much like blogs, and flickr, and twitter, and all these new webapps, you can RSS feed your tumblelog. At the bottom of your page you see the "subscribe via rss" link. That link can be added to Wordpress as a sidebar RSS reader of some sort, and would display a certain number of your most recent posts. Pictures might be a bit more involved to get them to fit without taking over your blog...but...I don't think it would be too bad.
